Xiangyu Zeng
I am an M.Eng. student in Mechanical Engineering, with a concentration in Control and Robotics, at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I am currently a Research Assistant in Computer Science at UIUC, advised by Prof. Shenlong Wang. Previously, I conducted research in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with Prof. Katherine Driggs-Campbell.
Research: My research asks what representations and reasoning structures enable embodied agents to understand human intent, interact with the physical world, and generalize beyond their training tasks. I study how visual foundation models and world models learn action-relevant and physically grounded structure from broad visual data, and how these representations can support data-efficient planning, preference-aware control, and real-robot learning.
